Christmas can be stressful time of year for most people but with a little preparation you can make it run smoothly.
The best thing to do is make a list of all the things you need to do before you fill your home with presents, decorations and guests.
Having a good clear out is a great place to start before you are faced with the addition clutter of the festive period. It is good to be ruthless, make a pile to sell, a pile for charity and a pile to throw away/recycle. It’s a great way of making some space.
Once you’ve had a good clear out start having a good deep clean. It is so much easier when there’s less clutter to battle. It will also make cleaning over the festive period less work as you will have done the worst of it.
Now you can start thinking about your decorations. Do you already have the perfect set for the look you want or are some of your decorations starting to look a little tired? You may even want to go with a completely different theme. Whatever the case may be it’s worth taking a step back and really planning the look you want to achieve. This way you can make sure you get the look you want rather than a collection of random decorations.
Winter proofing is also a worth doing. There’s nothing worse than being comfy on the sofa and then having to get up and walk across the room to get a blanket. Drape throws over sofa arms and chairs for a cosier feel. A few Christmas scented candles dotted around also improves the feel of warmth in a room.
With all this done you can enjoy the festive season rather than stressing about what you should have done. The festive period is a time for relaxing with family and friends so kick back and enjoy.
